What does my daughter learn in the Toddlers & Pre-School classes?

The Toddlers & Pre-School classes does not start with strict balletic exercises. Instead, the students learn to move to music, express themselves and learn to take part in a group activity. They also learn discipline, co-operation and acquire social skills.

What is the use of taking the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Examinations?

The RAD is a highly respected and internationally recognized organization. It has branches in over 76 countries around the world. The examination can act as an evaluation for the children’s performance each year. A certificate from the RAD Exam will also help children when they interview for school entrance as an extra achievement.

Why do we need to do stretching before class?

Dancers need to do stretching (warm up) before class and performance in order to prevent injury. In addition, dancers could increase their flexibility so as to improve their techniques and to have the best performance in a show.

Why is it important for dancers to have a healthy, balanced diet?

Carbohydrate is the main source of energy; calcium and vitamins are important to teen’ development. We need sufficient amount of calcium in order to promote strong and healthy bones. Women’s bone density starts declining at the age of 30. It will affect the performance level in return. Besides a well balanced diet, dancers should also have ample amount of water intake to prevent dehydration.

When will students be able to wear pointe shoes?

Students are able to wear pointe shoes when they have correct placement, strength and appropriate control of bodies to sustain correct placement on pointe. It will be the teachers’ decision on individual cases. .RAD suggests the minimum age to be 11.


At the age of six, students are encouraged to take the RAD Exam to evaluate their skills. Exams are usually given in May / June each year.
